Blessed Blues was the the (very) long-awaited follow-up to his 1970 debut album Ton Ton Macoute. In 1996, Capricorn Records founder Phil Walden persuaded Jenkins to record this \"comeback\" album. Backed by a stellar cast of musicians including Chuck Leavell on keyboards (now playing with The Rolling Stones) and The Muscle Shoals percussionist Mickey Buckins.
