Spectrum, the 1968 debut album by legendary funky drummer Les DeMerle, is widely regarded as a rare groove classic and is also known as a notable sampling source in hip-hop, including by rapper O.C. The album features an astonishing lineup of jazz greats. The horn section includes Frank Foster, Lew Tabackin, Ernie Lawrence, and Chris Woods on saxophones, along with Charles Sullivan and Marvin Stamm on trumpet. The stellar rhythm section includes guitarist Joe Beck and pianist Norman Simmons-some of the most respected musicians of the era.
