Singer Gunnel Mauritzson, considered one of the foremost folksingers in Sweden, has her musical roots in the folk music from her native Baltic island of Gotland. She is also a composer of new songs and tunes, often built upon traditional folk music styles, injecting new music and lyric elements as the music moves across the genres.
