Oscar Peterson's landmark meeting with Milt Jackson in the mid 1960's produced the very successful album entitled "Very Tall the Oscar Peterson Trio with Milt Jackson", which is a well-known album. This newer recording entitled the Very Tall Band is a reference to that famous album and is a chance to hear 3 Jazz masters late in their careers. They've played and recorded together on a number of occasions since then, joined by Ray Brown more often than not, but these live tracks recorded at the Blue Note are among their most satisfying sessions.
